A quick note about sat navs: they often try to send visitors via Crook, which involves opening numerous farm gates. We recommend following the directions below instead.

Finding Whasdyke Farm

From Keswick, Grasmere and Ambleside

Follow the A591 south towards Kendal.

After passing the turn-off for Windermere village, continue for approximately half a mile. You’ll descend and climb Bannerigg Hill. Shortly afterwards, look for the large sign for Blackmoss and move into the centre turning lane.

Turn right onto Blackmoss Lane, pass through the gate and continue over three cattle grids. When the lane forks, bear left and you will arrive at Whasdyke Farm.

From the M6 (North or South)

Leave the M6 at Junction 36 and follow signs for the Lake District.

Continue on the dual carriageway for approximately 8 miles until you reach the large roundabout. Go straight ahead towards Windermere.

Ignore any sat nav instruction to turn left towards Crook — this route involves several farm gates.

Continue on the A591 for around 4 miles. Pass through Ings (please note the 40 mph speed camera). Approximately one mile beyond Ings, look for the large sign for Blackmoss on the left.

Turn onto Blackmoss Lane, pass through the gate and continue over three cattle grids. At the fork in the lane, bear left and you will arrive at Whasdyke Farm.
