Debbie Graham

In 2012, I swapped life in retail for life on the farm when my husband, John, and I moved to Whasdyke Farm. Since then, we’ve farmed cattle and sheep, although these days our focus is on our cattle.

Our three Clydesdales – Sam, Ferdy and Paddy – are very much part of the family and have become the inspiration behind many of the experiences we now share. With my background as a BHSAI (British Horse Society Assistant Instructor) horses are always been a thread running through my life.

Although my journey into holistic living is a relatively recent one, I’ve embraced it wholeheartedly. From developing my organic allotment and caring for our bees, hens and ducks, to discovering the quiet connection of meditating with the horses, it’s been quite a transformation after thirty-five years as a shopkeeper.

Through Soul & Soil, I’m delighted to share that journey with others, creating opportunities to slow down, reconnect with nature and discover the simple joy that can be found in the countryside.

Alicia Redondo-Lund

Originally from Mexico and now based in the Lake District, she moved to the UK almost ten years ago and quickly fell in love with the beauty, lifestyle, and sense of community the Lakes offer. What began as a short stay became a place she proudly calls home.

She is part of the management team at a hotel in Bowness, and has a special love for authentic Mexican cuisine and enjoys sharing the flavours and traditions of her homeland with others.

Her love of horses is what first brought her to this journey. Through that passion, she met Debbie and was inspired to become part of the Soul and Soil project. Working alongside her, she has helped create the website and contributes to the project’s social media content, combining creativity, and a genuine appreciation for the connection between people, horses, and nature.

Could You Be Part of Soul & Soil?

We’re always delighted to hear from talented makers, craftspeople and tutors whose work reflects our love of the countryside, traditional skills and handmade creativity.

If you have a workshop you’d love to share in our Lakeland stone barn, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
